Roanoke Falls to Emory and Henry on the Road, 3-2

EMORY, Va --- The Maroons dropped a 3-2 decision against Emory and Henry Thursday night at Emory and Henry field in Emory.  Roanoke dropped to 11-19, 2-12 in ODAC, while the Wasps improve their record to 4-20, 3-10 in conference.

Roanoke jumped out to an early lead in the second inning when Matt Wallman's (Forest, VA, Jefferson Forest) single shot to right field was good to drive in Jacob Clifton (Vinton, VA, William Byrd) from second.

Emory and Henry got themselves onto the board in the bottom of the fifth inning, as Eric Houff homered right away.  The very next batter, Nick Windom, was not to be outdone, as he sent one deep over the fence giving the Wasps a 2-1 advantage.

Wallman then responded with a double, bringing home Conner from second, which turned out to be the Maroons last run of the day.

Emory and Henry scored the go ahead run in the bottom of the seventh inning.  Collin Metz sacrifice fly drove in Houff from third base, ultimately sealing the game for the Wasps.

Roanoke was led by Wallman's two-for-four, two RBI performance.  Conner, Jeremy Seipp (Arlington, VA, Washington-Lee), and Mark Manthe (Blacksburg, VA, Blacksburg) also chipped in with one hit a-piece.

Nick Windom paced the victors with a two-for-three performance, which included his homerun.

Zack Folger (Forest, VA, Jefferson Forest/Bridgewater) took the loss for the Maroons on the mound, dropping his record to 0-3 on the year, while Keith Fenner picked up his first win on the season, and now stands at 1-5.

The Maroons will have a chance to redeem themselves this Saturday at Kiwanis Field as they face Hampden Sydney.  The first pitch is set to be thrown at noon.
