Tyler Grouten Named Honorable Mention All-ODAC for Baseball
Sophomore pitcher Tyler Grouten (Avon, CT, Avon) was named to the 2011 All-ODAC Baseball Team announced yesterday. He earned the honorable mention accolade as the  only Maroon to earn the annual conference honor.
 
Grouten, from Avon, CT, emerged as the Maroons' ace on the mound this spring. He went 3-5 in seven starts this season with 36 strikeouts in 62.2 innings of work. In 15 appearances, Grouten had two saves against Ferrum (2/8) and Maine-Pesque Isle (2/23). He earned his first victory of the season in the following game vs. Southern Vermont (2/26). His best performance of the year came against ODAC Regular Season Champion, Bridgewater as he threw 8.1 innings of shutout baseball in the 1-0 victory (3/26). Against EMU in the final day of the season, Grouten stuck out a season-best seven batters.
 
The Maroons finished the year, 12-23 overall, with a 3-15 mark in the ODAC. The 12 wins are the most since 2008 for this young team with only two seniors and one junior.
