SALEM --- Roanoke fell on the road to Ferrum, 3-2 but swept Maine-Presque Isle with scores of 9-5 and 7-1 at Kiwanis Field on Saturday to complete a three-game weekend.  The Maroons, who picked up their first wins of the season, improved to 2-5 while the Owls dropped their first two games of the year.  Ferrum improved to 4-1.

Ferrum picked up a 3-2 non-conference baseball win over Roanoke Friday afternoon at Panther Field.  The game was originally scheduled to be played Thursday, Feb. 16, but was postponed due to inclement weather.

In the opening game of Saturday's doubleheader vs. M-PI, Roanoke exploded with a four-run inning and provided two insurance runs in the sixth to secure the victory.  They were down, 5-3 heading into the bottom of the fourth.

In the twin bill, the Maroons cruised to a 7-1 win to complete the night on a positive note.  With the game tied at 1-1 in the bottom of the third, Roanoke broke the game open with a four-run inning and added two more in the sixth.

Bradley Mattox and Chad Hill had two hits each with Ben Amos contributing a base hit, a run, a stolen base and two RBI.  Kluge crossed home plate twice in the non-conference victory.
