Roanoke Baseball Falls to Milligan, 10-2 on Monday
MILLIGAN COLLEGE, TN – The Roanoke College baseball team fell in non-conference action on Monday evening to Milligan College, 10-2.  The Maroons now have a record of 12-18, while the Buffs are 18-18.

The Maroons got an early jump on the Buffs putting up two runs on the NAIA opponent.  Brian Kluge reached first on a walk, then worked his way around the base path on a sacrifice bunt, stolen base and wild pitch to give the Maroons an early 1-0 lead.  With one out, Bradley Mattox was hit home Jacob Clifton hit a single to shallow right field, putting Roanoke ahead 2-0 after the first half inning.

However, the Buffs got the ball rolling in the bottom of the second as the plated two runs.  They then proceeded to score two runs in both the third and fourth innings, taking a 6-2 lead over the Maroons.  Milligan's biggest inning came in the bottom of the seventh, as they hit four base hits that resulted in three runs for the Buffs.  After seven innings, Milligan held a 9-2 lead.  The Buffs put up one more run in the bottom of the eighth as Sam Tarlton hit an RBI double to score Jose Sanchez, who came in as a pinch runner.  Milligan held off Roanoke for the final half inning, and picked up the 10-2 win in non-conference play.

Reece Kingery and Jacob Clifton each finished the game with two hits, while Bradley Mattox, Clark Crutchfield, and Gavin Pelliteri tallied one hit apiece.  Clifton picked up the Maroons' lone RBI, while Brian Kluge and Mattox scored one run each.  Chad Hill was tabbed with the loss after giving up eight runs off of nine hits, striking out four batters.

Sam Tarlton led the Buffs in hitting, going 3-5 on the evening with a game-high four RBIs.  Four other players for Milligan finished the contest with two hits each.  Corey McPherson and Tyree Jeffries each crossed the plate twice for the Buffs.  Corey Jenkins picked up the victory for Milligan, pitching 2.1 innings, giving up no runs off one hit, and striking out three.

The Maroons return to action on Wednesday, April 10th as they face off against Lynchburg College on the road.  That contest is scheduled for a 3:00 PM first pitch.
