The Lead: RC was led by Harrison Richards who tossed a one-run complete game and Will Decker who belted a two-run home run in the top of the ninth inning to help Roanoke defeat Emory & Henry in a pivotal ODAC contest.

How it Happened:
  • The Maroons scored their first run in the top of the third inning after Will Black and Anthony Teixeira hit back-to-back singles to get things started. Later in the inning Black and Anthony stole third and second, respectively, and Black later scored from third off of a wild pitch.
  • In the bottom of the fifth, Emory & Henry responded with a run of its own after Ben Sexton hit an RBI double to right field tying the game at 1-1.
  • In the top of the ninth, Craig Kiley singled to start the inning and was pinch ran for by Dan Brodeur. Later in the inning, Decker hit a two-run blast to give Roanoke the 3-1 advantage.
  • Richards was able to finish his complete game after tossing a scoreless ninth inning to give Roanoke the 3-1 victory.
  • Richards tossed all nine innings while scattering six hits and only allowing one run while striking out seven.
  • At the plate, Decker went 2-for-4 with two RBI and a home run while Kiley was 2-for-3 on the day with one walk and a double. Black and Teixeira collected the Maroons only other hits on the afternoon.
  • Gavin Felty threw eight innings for Emory & Henry while only allowing one run off of four hits and Logan Forster was saddled with the loss for the Wasps.

Up Next: Roanoke will take on Greensboro College at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 19th in a non-conference contest.
