The Lead: Roanoke fell to Emory & Henry 4-1 in a Wednesday night conference game.

How it Happened:
  • The Maroons scored their only run in their half of the fourth inning after Will Decker tripled down the line to put himself in scoring position. Eli Sumpter grounded out to the shortstop, but Decker was able to cross the plate giving RC the 1-0 lead.
  • Emory & Henry scratched across two runs in the top of the sixth after Brandon Lineberry placed a double just inside the left field line to score two runs.
  • The Wasps were able to score two more runs after Ben Sexton doubled to right field giving Emory & Henry the 4-1 lead and eventual outcome.
  • Dean Hermanson went 2-for-2 at the plate with a walk and Decker picked up one triple and scored RC's lone run.
  • Seth Bradley started the game on the mound for Roanoke going three innings while only giving up one hit and no runs while Rawlings Cumbea was given the loss for the Maroons. For Emory & Henry Gavin Helty earned his third win of the year after throwing seven innings while scattering five hits and giving up only one run.

Up Next: Roanoke will continue its non-conference schedule on Saturday, April 2nd on senior day against Washington & Lee set for a 12:00 p.m. start.
