  • Plunkett And Turner Named All State

    The Virginia Sports Information Directors (VaSID) announced their 2021 All State Baseball teams on Wednesday afternoon. When the teams were announced, designated hitter Carter Plunkett was named to the 1st team while pitcher Will Turner earned 2nd team honors.

    The Roanoke College Athletic Department announced their 2020-21 award winners on Monday afternoon. The announcement of the four awards comes after an unprecedented season that would see all sports competing, in condensed schedules, over a three and a half month period due to the pandemic.

    The All-Region teams for baseball were announced and when the D3baseball All-South Region and American Baseball coaches Association (ABCA) were named, Roanoke College sophomore Carter Plunkett was named 1st Team as a Designated Hitter.

  • Eagles Upset Maroons In Tournament

    Roanoke College earned the #3 seed in the 2021 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Baseball Tournament and hosted #6 Bridgewater in a best of three series that started on Saturday afternoon. The Eagles would plate a pair of early runs before the Maroons tied it up one inning later. The game would remained tied in the late innings before a passed ball would plate the game winning run for the Eagles, as Bridgewater took a 1-0 series lead. Per ODAC rules, the Maroons would bat first as the “visiting” team in game two. Two runs in the top of the fifth would put Roanoke in front, 2-0. After four Eagle runs, the Maroons would rally to tie the score. A late inning home run proved the difference as Bridgewater advanced by winning both games.
  • Roanoke Splits Pair With Yellow Jackets

    Roanoke College hosted Randolph-Macon on Sunday afternoon with first place on the line in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) standings. The game was tied after nine innings as game one headed into extra innings. RMC got a pair of runs in the top of the 11th for the 7-5 win. Game two belonged to the Maroons as they scored two early runs and a four spot in the sixth appeared to put the game away.  A Yellow Jackets rally would cut the lead in half but Roanoke recorded the final six outs for the 6-3 win.
  • Late Rally Lifts Roanoke
    April 20, 2021
    Roanoke traveled to Emory & Henry for their second matchup of the season. The Maroons defeated the Wasps in Salem, 11-2, back on April 7th and went looking for the season sweep on Tuesday afternoon. Emory & Henry would score first but Roanoke answered with three runs to take their first lead of the game. The home team put five runs on the board in the bottom of the third and RC would have to play catch up for the next six innings. Four runs in eighth would set the stage for a fantastic finish. The Maroons took the lead and sealed the game when they recorded the last out at home plate for the 9-8 win.
  • Maroons Take Two From Marlins

    Roanoke College went on the road to the eastern shore to face Virginia Wesleyan in an Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) double header. The Maroons used a four-run seventh in the opener to pull away for the 9-4 win. A seven-run explosion in the sixth inning of game two would seal the sweep for Roanoke with an 8-5 victory.
  • Roanoke Wins Slugfest In Greensboro

    The Roanoke College baseball team traveled to North Carolina to face Greensboro College in a non-conference matchup. The Maroons raced out to a 4-0 lead in the top of the first. After scoring eight runs in the third, Roanoke built a big lead. However, the Pride would chip away and make it a three-run game heading into the eighth inning. A grand slam by the Maroons would put the game away as Roanoke picked up an 18-11 win.
  • Roanoke Completes Season Sweep of Panthers

    Roanoke played host to Ferrum on Tuesday night looking to complete the season sweep of the Panthers. RC won at Ferrum, 3-1, back on March 24th. The Maroons put up six, first inning, runs to seize control of the matchup. A Ferrum rally made it a one-run game late, but three more runs by the Maroons would seal the 11-7 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) win.
  • ODAC Sweep Of Eagles

    Roanoke College left Salem a little earlier than scheduled to travel to Bridgewater for a double header on Saturday morning. The games were moved up to try to beat the forecasted rain and storms that were scheduled to hit the Shenandoah Valley later in the afternoon. The Eagles were up 3-2 before the Maroons scored five unanswered runs on their way to winning the opener 7-4. In game two, a five-run eighth inning would be the difference as Roanoke swept Bridgewater with a 9-4 win.

    Roanoke looked to get back on track after a loss at Averett last night when they hosted Emory & Henry in a mid-week Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) matchup on Wednesday night. The Maroons used a five-run second inning to gain control of the game and cruise to an 11-2 ODAC win at Salem Memorial Ballpark.
  • Roanoke Falls On The Road

    Roanoke College stepped out of conference when they traveled to Averett to play a single game on Tuesday afternoon. The Maroons had defeated the Cougars on March 23rd. Averett score first before the Maroons would tie it up in the top of the third. However, 12 unanswered runs by the home team would send RC to the 13-2 non-conference loss.

    The Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) announced their Player of the Week on Monday afternoon. Roanoke College junior Evan Parks was named ODAC Baseball Pitcher of the Week for week 12.
  • Roanoke Takes Two From 13th Ranked Hornets

    Roanoke played host to Shenandoah in an Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) double header on Saturday afternoon. The Hornets came into the games with a perfect 9-0 ODAC record and were ranked 13th in the country in the latest D3baseball.com/NCBWA Top 25. The Maroons took a 2-0 lead into the top of the ninth but a two-run HR by Shenandoah would send the game into extra innings. In the bottom of the 10th, the Maroons would see the winning run cross the plate for the 3-2 win. In game two, Roanoke would use 16 hits to score 11 runs in completing the sweep of the Hornets.
  • Roanoke Uses Long Ball In Win Over Quakers

    Roanoke College traveled to Greensboro for a single mid-week game with Guilford. The two teams would each score a run in the first inning, however, the Maroons put up four second inning runs and added a pair of sixth inning home runs on their way to a 9-1 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) win.

    A trip to Lexington for the Roanoke baseball team was on the schedule for Saturday afternoon. The Maroons would jump out to a 3-0 lead over the Generals before W&L rallied to take a 5-3 advantage. RC would tie it up but a pair of Washington and Lee runs would withstand a late Roanoke rally as W&L took the opener 7-6. Game two would also see the Maroons score first, but seven unanswered by the home team would allow W&L to pull away and hold on for the 11-6 win.

    The Roanoke College baseball team traveled to Ferrum for a mid-week Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) game on Wednesday night. A pair of runs in the sixth and one more in the eighth would stake the Maroons to a 3-0 lead heading into the last half inning. A double and an error put a pair of Panthers on ahead of an RBI single to close the gap. Roanoke got a ground out to short to seal the 3-1 win.

    The Roanoke College baseball team hosted Averett in a non-conference game on Tuesday afternoon. It was announced earlier this month that the Cougars would be joining the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) in 2022. The Maroons would score nine, first inning, runs to set the tone for a 17 hit outburst leading to a 16-3 victory.

    After splitting with Lynchburg in their Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) opener, Roanoke welcomed long-time rival Hampden-Sydney to Salem Memorial Stadium for a double header on Saturday. 29 hits and 22 runs later, the Maroons had run their ODAC mark to 3-1 with a sweep of the Tigers.
  • Roanoke Runs Way To Sweep Of Knights

    For the second time this month, Roanoke hosted Southern Virginia for a pair of seven inning games. The Maroons took both ends of the double header on March 3rd and looked for a repeat on Wednesday. The Maroons used six SVU miscues in the opener to post a 9-2 win. In the second game, RC would see five pitchers combine for the 3-0 shutout.

    Roanoke College opened up Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) play on Saturday afternoon when they welcomed Lynchburg to the Salem Memorial Baseball Stadium. In the opener, the Hornets used 17 hits to pull away for the 13-3 win. The second game would see Lynchburg take a lead before back-to-back runs for the Maroons put them in front and the bullpen closed it down for the 2-1 win.
  • Baseball Splits A Pair With Pacers

    After splitting a double header with William Peace in North Carolina on February 21, the Roanoke College baseball team welcomed the Pacers to Salem for a pair of seven inning games on Saturday. A four-run fourth inning would carry the Pacers to a 7-5 win in game one. In the second game, the Maroons would score in the bottom of the sixth to take the lead and held on for the one-run win to once again split with William Peace.
  • Roanoke Sweeps Double Header

    The Roanoke College baseball team hosted Southern Virginia University for a double header at Salem Memorial Baseball Stadium on Wednesday afternoon. Game one would see the Maroons offense exploded for 16 runs as RC cruised to the seven inning win. Game two was a come from behind win for Roanoke as the home team got a pair of runs in the fourth followed by two more in the fifth for the 5-3 victory.
  • Ninth Inning Rally Spoils Home Opener

    In their first home game of the season, Roanoke College welcomed Christopher Newport to the Salem Memorial Baseball Stadium. The matchup would go back and forth with the Maroons holding a 7-5 advantage heading into the ninth inning. A three-run top half would lift the Captains to the 8-7 win.

    The Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) announced their Players of the Week for the week of February 15-21. Roanoke College relief pitcher Kevin Ledford was named ODAC Baseball Pitcher of the Week.
  • Roanoke Splits Pair In Cary
    February 21, 2021
    William Peace used a four-run, sixth inning to take a 5-2 advantage. Roanoke got single runs in the seventh, eighth, ninth, and tenth to complete the late inning rally, taking the opener, 6-5. Game two would see the Pacers score the first six runs of the game. Roanoke would add three late runs but William Peace salvaged a split with a 6-3 win.
  • Ullrich Returns To Salem

    On Friday afternoon, Roanoke College Director of Athletics Scott Allison announced that Zach Ullrich is being named head baseball coach. Ullrich returns to Salem where he served on Coach Matt McGuire's staff that led the Maroons to its first ODAC Championship, an NCAA South Regional Championship and a Final Four finish at the NCAA Division III World Series. He will assume the top spot for the baseball program on January 4, 2021.
