Maroons Fall to Scots on the Road

The Basics

The Lead: The Roanoke baseball team dropped a return game at Maryville (Tenn.) in a mid-week, non-conference contest after the Scots played at Salem Memorial Ballpark earlier this season.

Highlights:

  • The Scots jumped out to a 5-0 through four innings over Roanoke. The Maroons responded in the top of the fifth. Brody Langlotz led off the inning with a single to left followed by Noah Basham earning a walk. Next up Spencer Rhoads hit a deep ball over the fence in the outfield for a three-run home run, cutting the Scots lead down to just 5-3. 
  • Maryville answered back with two runs in the bottom of the fifth and another in the bottom of the sixth to put their lead back up to 8-3. 
  • Roanoke got a solo home run from Jonny Wall in the top of the eighth but was not able to get any more across the plate as the Scots stayed ahead for the 8-4 win.
  • Langlotz went 2-for-4 at the plate to lead the Maroons. 

Up next: Roanoke is back in Virginia on Wednesday, April 19 when they travel a little south for a single ODAC contest at Ferrum. First pitch with the Panthers is scheduled for 7 p.m.
