Maroons Take Part in Roanoke Go Outside Festival Race

ROANOKE, Va. – Last Saturday, October 15, the Roanoke cycling team participated in the Roanoke Go Outside Festival race. The Maroons raced in a Time Trial Hillclimb event, racing from the bottom of Mill Mountain Star to the top, a 1.93 mile race against the clock.

Race Results

Three Roanoke cyclists competed with Hays Edmunds finishing fourth in 11:22.6. Benjamin Cerkovnik finished one spot behind in fifth with a time of 12:29.4. Rafe Johnson finished 13th overall in a time of 16:06.3

The Roanoke Go Outside Festival, sponsored by Anthem, is an annual event to encourage healthy, active outside recreation. By combining the things outdoor enthusiasts love – camping, music, gear, races, and demos all in a beautiful outdoor setting – GO Fest is a celebration of everything outdoors. The GO Outside Festival is a collaboration between Roanoke Outside Foundation and Roanoke Parks and Recreation.

The Maroons will compete again on October 29-30 when they travel to Wake Forest in Winston-Salem, N.C.
