Maroons Wrap up Season at ACCC Championship

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. -- The Roanoke cycling team wrapped up the season with two podiums in the Criterium on Saturday (second and third place for Hays Edmunds and Kelby Hanson, respectfully) and a fifth place for Edmundson Sunday in the Road Race.

Edmunds finished in first place overall for the C category collegiate men for the road season. Ben Cerkovnik was fifth overall.

Edmunds race report:

"After our last two races at UVA our first collegiate road season has come to an end. Having started this season on the bench, from a concussion, I am stoked that I was able to get out there and perform later in the season. Ultimately, I was able to take first in the ACCC conference for men's collegiate C's, but there were a lot of other meaningful takeaways for me this year. Being on a team presents a whole new challenge of both how I can support myself and my teammates. I certainly gave my best, but the man who deserves the shoutout for best teammate was hands-down, Ben. He drove me to races, put me on the podium at UMD, and kept me in the race at Jeff Cup when I was getting dropped. It's been a pleasure to race with him as well as the rest of our road team. I can't wait to get back out there next year and start racing with the B's."
