Shenandoah tops Roanoke, 1-0 in Field Hockey Action
WINCHESTER, Va. --- Roanoke fell to Shenandoah, 1-0 on the road Saturday afternoon in non-conference action. The Maroons dropped to 0-3 on the season. The Hornets improved to 2-0 overall.
With less than a minute remaining in the first half, Paola Aguilar found the back of the cage to give the Hornets the only goal of the game and eventual game-winner. She finished with a game-high five shots.
The Hornets outshot Roanoke, 8-2, including seven shots on goal. The Maroons managed a slim 6-4 advantage on penalty corners. Lindsey Bass (Franklin, NH, New Hampton School)and Ashley Fuhrer (Moorestown, NJ, Moorestown )had a shot apiece in the loss.
Cristina Scichilone (South Yarmouth, MA, Nauset Regional)finished with six saves on the afternoon for Roanoke. Shenandoah's Danielle Lawson came up with one save.
The women return to action on Wednesday, Sept. 16 as they travel to Harrisonburg, Va. to take on Eastern Mennonite in their ODAC-opener. Game time is scheduled for 4:00 p.m.
