Second Half Goal Lifts Catawba over Roanoke, 1-0
SALEM, Va. --- Roanoke fought hard but fell to Catawba, 1-0 at Kerr Stadium on Wednesday afternoon. The Maroons fall to 1-7 on the season while the Indians improved to 2-7.
 
Catawba's Dana Dolbow scored off an assist from Jamie Swain with 12 minutes remaining and held on for their second win of the season.
 
Roanoke was out-shot, 22-10, including 12-2 in shots on goal. The Indians also managed a 10-2 penalty corner advantage.
 
Cristina Scichilone (South Yarmouth, MA, Nauset Regional)had a tremendous game in goal, as she finished with 11 saves, including a diving stop in a penalty stroke situation in the second half.
 
Jessica Perkins (Abington, PA, Abington), Lee Sheldon (Darien, CT, Darien)and Mariah Vietri (Jamestown, RI, Rocky Hill)each had two shots, while Vietri and Kate McGuire (Royal Oak, MD, Easton)registered a shot on goal.
 
The women head to Sweet Briar on Friday, Oct. 2 with game time scheduled for 4:30 p.m.
