SALEM, Va. --- Roanoke fell to Mary Washington, 4-0 in non-conference action Sunday afternoon at Kerr Stadium. The Maroons dropped to 2-12 on the season while the Eagles improved to 11-5.

 

The Maroons, are now 7-17 against Mary Washington, were out-shot, 20-6, 10-2 in shots on goal. The Eagles also held a 13-5 advantage on penalty corners.

 

Emma Jones scored two goals to lead Mary Washington as she totaled five shots, two on goal. Florence George scored a goal and led the Eagles with five shots, four on goal. Amy Stevens added the other goal in addition to two shots on goal.

 

Taylor Cazeault (Dedham, MA, Noble and Greenough)and Jessica Perkins (Abington, PA, Abington)each finished the afternoon with two shots apiece (one on goal).Abby Bjork (Westborough, MA, Westborough)totaled three defensive saves while Ashley Fuhrer (Moorestown, NJ, Moorestown )had a defensive save of her own. Fuhrer set the single-season defensive saves record at Roanoke with 11 on the season. She is ranked fifth on the school's career list.

 

Cristina Scichilone (South Yarmouth, MA, Nauset Regional)finished with six saves in goal for the Maroons.   She surpassed her freshman year total with 124 saves on the season and is now sixth all-time on the career saves list at Roanoke. 

 

The women will host Bridgewater in the regular season finale on Saturday, Oct. 24. The Maroons are 37-18-2 all-time vs. Bridgewater. Game time is scheduled for 6 p.m.
