Roanoke Drops Non-Conference Contest to Limestone
SALEM, Va. --- Roanoke fell to Limestone, 6-0 Wednesday afternoon at Kerr Stadium. The Maroons dropped to 1-13, while the Saints improved to 5-10 on the year.

The match-up was the first ever between the two teams. Limestone's program has only been in existence for two seasons.

The Saints struck early and never trailed in the match. Sara Parker scored an unassisted goal in the 12th minute for the eventual game-winner and one goal advantage entering the half.

Limestone really got it going in the second half, pouring in five goals. Just a minute into the second half, Kathleen Troutner found Audrey King off a penalty corner. Parker then added her second score of the afternoon to put the Saints up three in the 50th minute.

Ten minutes later, Troutner found the back of the cage off a loose ball in front of the net. With five minutes remaining, Abby Rummel fired in a shot off a Bernice Jere feed. Kari DeHof punched in putback with four seconds to play to give the final score.

Alex Broadbent (Pisgah Forest, NC, Carolina Day) led the Maroons with two shots on goal. Lee Sheldon (Darien, CT, Darien) finished with two shots, one on goal, and a defensive.

Gabbie Leigey-Kelly (Cross River, NY, John Jay) took the loss in goal for Roanoke, picking up five saves in the first half. Lindsay Hinton picked up the win for Limestone, blocking three shots on the afternoon.

The Saints outshot the Maroons 15-5, including a 14-4 edge in shots on goal.

The women return to action next Wednesday, October 27th as they host Sweet Briar. The match is set for a 7:00 p.m. start.
