Holloman Scores Twice in 5-1 RC Field Hockey Win Over Bethany

The Lead: Roanoke's Shelbi Holloman scored a pair of goals and dished out an assist as the Maroons topped homestanding Bethany 5-1 on Saturday afternoon. RC is now 3-0 for the first time since 2003.

How it happened:
  • Katerina DeSimone got RC on the board just 11:23 into the game with an unassisted strike.
  • Just under four minutes later, Emily McQueen doubled RC's lead on an assist from Megan Diehl to make it 2-0.
  • After Bethany scored to cut its deficit in half, Holloman got RC back out in front by two when she was set up by a pass from DeSimone and scored.
  • Ten minutes into the second stanza, Holloman set up Kestrel Thorne-Kaunelis to put RC up 4-1 before scoring an unassisted goal of her own with just 12 minutes to go in the game.
  • Heather Schauder made three stops in the cage for Roanoke.
