The Lead
Bridgewater scored three goals in the final 17 minutes of the game to rally for a 3-2 victory over Roanoke on Saturday afternoon in ODAC Field Hockey action in Salem.
How it Happened
- BC controlled possession in the first-half, outshooting RC 9-2 but Maroon keeper Heather Schauder made five saves to keep the Eagles off the board.
- RC's Shelbi Holloman took a pass from Megan Diehl at the 38:33 mark of the second-stanza to put the Maroons out in front 1-0.
- Holloman then set up Diehl less than three minutes later for a goal that doubled the RC advantage to 2-0.
- Allison Kirk deflected a Taylor Pillaman shot past Schauder in the 53rd minute to get BC on the board.
- Prillaman then set up Alenka Ferrufino for the equalizer less four minutes later when Ferrufino batted the ball out of the air and past Schauder.
- Elizabeth Washington would provide the game-winner at the 66:39 mark on an assist from Caroline Fletcher.
- Schauder finished with eight saves, while Marisa Sims stopped seven shots. BC outshot RC 16-10 for the match and held a slim 5-4 edge in penalty corner opportunities.
Roanoke travels to nearby Ferrum on Wednesday for a 4:30 match. RC topped the Panthers 6-0 earlier this season.
