The Lead: Roanoke College welcomed Bridgewater to Salem for a mid-week, Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) matchup on Wednesday night. Five minutes into the second half, the Maroons would break the scoreless tie with the only goal of the evening. Roanoke would not allow an Eagle shot after the first quarter as the Maroons won their second straight ODAC game.

Highlights:

  • The two, long time, ODAC rivals would each attempt three first period shots but the game would be scoreless after the first 15 minutes of play.
  • Roanoke began to dominate the action, but could not take advantage of their three penalty corners and the game would be tied, 0-0, at the half.
  • Just over five minutes into the second half, Claudia Roncone sent a ball past the defense to an open Emilee Wooten. Wooten took the pass and beat the goalie to give RC a 1-0 lead.
  • Roanoke would not allow an eagle shot during the final three periods of play as the Maroons picked up their second consecutive ODAC victory.
  • In goal, Madison Wingerter notched her third win of the season, recording a save on the only Bridgewater shot to be on goal.
