Curtis Peery named D3Hoops.com All-South Region Second-Team
SALEM, Va. --- Senior forward Curtis Peery was named Second-Team All-South Region by D3Hoops.com announced today. This is the first Maroon to garner this honor since Robby Pridgen in 2003 and is the eight player in the Div. III-era at Roanoke to receive this honor.
Peery, a local product out of Salem High School, was named All-ODAC for the third-straight season with a first-team honor last month. He led the team in scoring (18.4 ppg), rebounding (6.5 rpg) and free-throw percentage (84.2%). He was named ODAC Player of the Week on three occasions and was named MVP of the V-Foundation Classic and the CNU Invitational. Peery was named All-Tournament team in the W&L Classic and the Domino's New Year's Classic.
The senior forward is second in blocked shots (13) and has 10 20-point games this season. Peery has scored in double-figures in all but one game this year and has produced seven double-doubles performances. His 1,349 career points puts him 12th on the all-time scoring list at Roanoke. He is currently sixth all-time since the NCAA Div. III-era (1979-pres.). His 304 career free-throws made is 10th all-time at Roanoke.
The Maroons finished the season with a 19-7 overall mark, the best since the 2000-01 season. The men also won 11 ODAC games for the third-straight year and earned a #3 seed in the ODAC Tournament.
