Roanoke Outlasts Guilford, 80-76

SALEM, Va. --- Curtis Peery notched his third-straight double-double on Monday evening as Roanoke College defeated Guilford College, 80-76, in ODAC men's basketball action at the C. It is the longest win streak and best start (overall and in conference play) since the 1999-00 season. He shot 10-of-17 from the floor, 4-of-5 from the charity stripe and dished out four assists. It was the third-straight double-double, sixth of the season. His 1,147 career points ranks him 22nd on the all-time scoring list at Roanoke.
Guilford rallied from a nine-point second-half deficit to tie the game at 74-74 on a follow basket by freshman Brad Monroe with 2:50 remaining to cap a 10-3 run. Neither team scored over the next 1:11 before Peery's inside basket off a Drew Gaeng assist broke the game's fifth and final tie off a Quaker turnover.
Corey Poindexter and Peery both made two free throws in the final 18-seconds to seal Roanoke's win.
Melvin Felix finished with 16 points, 4-of-7 from beyond the arc in addition to three assists in the win. Parrish Walker had 11 points and six rebounds along with three assists.
