Roanoke Men's and Women's Basketball Ranked in latest South Region Polls

Roanoke College basketball has both the men's and women's teams ranked in the south region poll announced Wednesday evening. The men are ranked eighth while the women hold a #5 spot in the latest poll.
The men, who are 19-6 and finished with an 11-5 record in ODAC play this winter, are off to their best start since the 2000-01 season. They are led by senior forward Curtis Peery, who is leading the team with 18.5 points 6.8 rebounds per game and 84.2% from the free-throw line. In addition, sophomore guard Parrish Walker is second in scoring (11.7 ppg) and assists (57) while leading the Maroons in steals (46).
The women, who are currently 22-3 heading into the ODAC Tournament, had a 17-3 mark in the ODAC. Both records are the best since the 1996-97 season. Head Coach Susan Dunagan won her seventh ODAC Coach of the Year award last evening as she reigns as the winningest coach in ODAC History. Junior guard Caitlyn Long leads Roanoke with 12.1 points per game, 50 three-pointers made and 65 free-throws made. She was named First-Team All-ODAC. Jaleesa Osborne, who was named second-team All-ODAC, leads the Maroons in assists (95), steals (64) and free-throw percentage (82.7%).
The women will play #8-seeded Lynchburg College in the Quarterfinals of the ODAC Tournament at the Salem Civic Center at 1 p.m. The men will battle ODAC-rival Hampden-Sydney on Friday, Feb. 27 at 8 p.m. in the final game of the men's quarterfinal round.
