Randolph Catches Fire in the Second Half to Beat Roanoke, 86-63
SALEM, Va--- Roanoke fell to Randolph College, 86-63 Wednesday evening at the Bast Center. The Maroons dropped to 7-8, 3-4 in conference play, while the Wildcats improved to 11-4, 5-2 in the ODAC.
Randolph picked up their second win against the Maroons in just the third meeting between the two teams all-time. The Wildcats are off to the best start in school history and broke the school record with their 11th win.
Randolph got a huge boost from their bench, holding a 27-18 advantage for the game. The Wildcats caught fire in the second half, shooting 17-of-26 (65.4%) from the field and 5-of-6 (83.3%) from behind the arc. The Maroons were plagued by poor free throw shooting, finishing just 12-23 for the game.
Freshman Jack Hamilton (Arlington, VA, St, Stephen's St. Agnes) came out of the gates scorching hot for Roanoke, pouring in the first nine points of the game for the home team. Behind the play of Hamilton, the Maroons were able to jump out to a and early 13-7 lead at the first media timeout. The Wildcats fought back to trail by five heading into the half, 38-33.
Randolph continued their hot shooting, going on a 12-1 run to open the half and take a 45-39 lead. Colton Hunt led the charge for visiting team, scoring the first seven points of the period. Roanoke battled throughout, but was not able to keep the Wildcats from pulling away.
Logan Singleton (Roanoke, VA, Hidden Valley) recorded his first career double-double, finishing with career-bests of 18 points and 10 rebounds. He topped his previous career-high of 17 points, which he registered against Randolph as a freshman. He entered the game leading the ODAC in field goal percentage, shooting a blazing 64.1% from the field.

Hamilton finished with a career-high 18 points on a 8-of-9 shooting from the field.
Corey Poindexter (Pulaski, VA, Pulaski County/Hargrave) added five points, five rebounds, and three assists, while Matt Crizer (Covington, VA, Alleghany) and Clay Lacy (Roanoke, VA, Cave Spring) chipped in seven points apiece on the night.
Hunt led four Wildcats in double figures, finishing with a game-high 26 points and four rebounds. Roanoke native Pete Hamilton contributed 12 points on a perfect day from the floor, shooting 4-of-4 from the field and 2-of-2 from the charity stripe. Timmy Clarke added 15 points, while Caleb Pearson finished with 11 markers and a team-high seven boards.
The Maroons return to action Saturday Jan. 22nd as they travel to Bridgewater. Tip-off is slated for a 3:00 p.m. start.
