Roanoke (8-10, 4-6 ODAC) will host a hot Guilford squad, who is 13-7, 7-4 in the ODAC at the Bast Center on Wednesday, Feb. 2 at 7 p.m.
Series Information
Roanoke holds a 38-16 series lead over Guilford. The series began in 1913-14, but met only 10 times before the Quakers joined the ODAC in 1990. Since joining the conference, the Maroons are 33-11. Over the last six meetings, Guilford has won five of those games.
Scouting the Quakers
The Quakers are coming off recent wins over previously unbeaten and then #2 Virginia Wesleyan and then #9 Randolph-Macon. Guilford have won eight of their last 10 games with their only losses over that span coming to #18 Eastern Mennonite and upstart Randolph, who is third in the ODAC standings with a 13-5 record, 7-3 in the conference.
Josh Pittman (18.2 ppg) is ranked third in the ODAC in scoring and in free-throw percentage (85.4%). He is atop the ODAC in three-pointers made (61) while leading the Quakers in three-point percentage (37.9%) and steals. He scored 30 points in the one-point victory over the Yellow Jackets. He scored a career-best 34 points on two occasions this season.
Tobi Akinsola (11.8 ppg) leads Guilford in rebounding (7.3 rpg) and field goal percentage (52.4%). He scored a career-high 26 points in the three-point win over the Marlins.
About the Maroons
Melvin Felix (Caguas, Puerto Rico, Salem) (16.7 ppg) is ranked among the top-5 in the ODAC in scoring. He enters today's game with 1,045 career points, trailing Steve Baker '64 two points for 28th all-time. His 94 three-pointers made are 11th at Roanoke and needs seven steals for 100 in his career.
Matt Crizer (9.9 ppg) scored a career-high 24 points in last weekend's loss to EMU. His 87 career three-pointers are 12th all-time at Roanoke.
