Roanoke will host Emory & Henry in ODAC men's basketball action Wednesday, Feb. 8 in a must-win situation to keep a shot of hosting a play-in game for the ODAC Tournament. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. at the Bast Center.
Series Information
Roanoke owns a 67-41 lead in the series, which began in 1912. The Maroons have won seven of the last eight meetings, including an 88-76 win over the Wasps on Jan. 10. Page Moir is 27-19 against E&H in his 22 seasons at the helm.
About the Maroons
Roanoke is currently 8-13 overall, 4-8 in the ODAC. The men have dropped their last five games, with three coming against nationally-ranked teams, one in overtime to Guilford and the last to a tough Christopher Newport team on the road. The Maroons are first in the ODAC in rebounds (39.9) and ranks second in points per game (77.2 ppg), steals (9.5 spg) and turnovers (17.4). RC holds a 4-7 record at home this season.
Melvin Felix sits in 26th place on the all-time scoring list at Roanoke, with 1,080 career points. He is 16 points shy of passing Ron Pendleton for 25th all-time. Since being inserted into the starting lineup on Dec. 21st, Logan Singleton has started all but one game. He is averaging 14.3 points and 6.5 rebounds in his starts. Felix ranks fifth in the league in points per game (16.3 ppg) while Singleton is third in field
goal percentage (61%).
Scouting Emory & Henry
Paul Russo and the Wasps are fighting an uphill battle, trying to build on a four win season last year. They have amassed last year's win already this season. Emory & Henry is lead by Terrance Griggs, who is the only Wasps' player who is averaging double-figures on the season (16 ppg). He has played and started in all 21 contests this season. The Wasps lead the league in turnovers (19.2) this season.
