ODAC Sportsmanship Awards for Winter Teams Announced
FOREST, Va. --- The Old Dominion Athletic Conference is pleased to announce the 2011 ODAC/StellarOne Sportsmanship Teams in each of five winter sports sponsored by the conference. This marks the second year the league has recognized these fine student-athletes for their excellence in sportsmanship.

Ethan Humphries (Buchanan, VA, James River), who started all but six games for the Maroons as a freshman, picked things up towards the end of the season. Over the last six games, he averaged a team best 4.2 assists per game, including an eight-assist outting against Bridgewater in the first round of the ODAC tournament. Humphries was also a pest on the defensive end, as he managed 20 steals on the season, highlighted by a career-high five steal performance against Randolph-Macon in the ODAC quarterfinals. He was utilized as the team's primary facilitator at the point guard position, which spurred a six-win turnaround for the men's basketball team this season.

Sydney Webb (Hillsville, VA, Carroll County) was a two-sport athlete her first two seasons at Roanoke before concentrating on basketball and her major, which is Biochemistry. The 5-6 guard is a four-year letter-winner for the Maroons and was named team captain as a senior. Webb has appeared in 67 games, and scored her 100th career point in a season-best eight-point performance vs. Emory & Henry Tuesday night. She has knocked down 24 career three-pointers, including a career-best eight this season. In her final year, Webb has posted career-highs in points, rebounds, three-pointers and field goals made. A biochemistry major, Webb will graduate this May from Roanoke College.
The local product, Chase Board (Roanoke, VA, Hidden Valley), had a strong sophomore campaign, in which he had 3 top five finishes, including a season best third-place finish in the Washington and Lee vs. Roanoke Dual where he ran the 500m in 1:16.01. He was also part of a 4x400m relay team that placed fourth in the ODAC tournament with a time of 3:32.61.

Emma Wilson (Tuftonboro, NH, Kingswood Regional) was a key part in the women's indoor track and field success this season, as she was able to register four top-five finishes on the year for the Maroons. Her top two finishes of the season both came as being a member of 4x400m teams that placed second. Wilson's best individual performance on the year was at the Washington and Lee vs. Roanoke Dual, where she placed fifth.

The ODAC has a rich tradition in promoting fair play and good sportsmanship in each sport across the league. The character of the conference's student-athletes on and off the field is a representation of not only the individuals and teams, but also the institutions they play for.
