Roanoke Tops Eastern Mennonite to earn Program Win #1,300
HARRISONBURG --- Logan Singleton scored a layup with two-seconds left to knock off Eastern Mennonite, 81-79 at Yoder Arena Saturday evening. The Maroons improve to 6-12 overall, 2-8 in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC). The Royals fall to 8-11, 3-7 in conference play.

Roanoke College Men's Basketball enters in rare company. With the win tonight, the Maroons became only the 20th NCAA Div. III program to win 1,300 games. The win also broke a three-game losing skid against the Royals, which are now 58-16 all-time against Eastern Mennonite.

The win came in dramatic fashion as Roanoke took the ball with the game tied at 79-apiece with eight seconds remaining in regulation. Kwasi Amponsah drove the length of the court, split two pairs of defenders and found Singleton open at the block for the team's 18th assist of the game.

Roanoke, now 5-1 when having 15 or more assists, is 5-3 when scoring 70 points or more. The difference in the game was the production off the bench, as the Maroons outscored the Royals, 47-15.

The Maroons shot 49.2% (31-63) from the floor, including 5-of-11 (45.5%) from three-point range and 14-of-19 (73.7%) from the line. For the Royals, free-throw shooting was dismal on the night, shooting only 19-of-36 (52.8%).

Zach Barrett led Roanoke with a career-best 18 points (7-of-9 shooting) in addition to a career-high six rebounds. Clay Lacy tied a career-high with 14 points and pulled down six rebounds.

Amponsah and Singleton, who are the #1 scoring duo in the ODAC, finished with 14 points each. Amponsah totaled a team-best five assists and four rebounds while Singleton compiled a double-double with 11 boards. It was his third of the season and the second-straight against EMU.

The men are back on the road on Wednesday, Feb. 1 as they take on Guilford College. Tip-off is slated in Greensboro at 7 p.m. at Ragan-Brown Fieldhouse.
