Maroons Fall in ODAC Contest to Bridgewater 64-57 on Saturday
SALEM - The Roanoke College men's basketball team fell in Old Dominion Athletic Conference action to Bridgewater College 64-57 on Saturday. The Maroons are now 7-6, 0-4 ODAC, while the Eagles now sit at 8-5 and are 2-2 in ODAC play.

Roanoke's Andrew Daniels set a career-high in scoring with 25 points, shooting 9-15 from the field. His previous high was 21 points, a mark he set against Averett on December 15th of this season.

The Maroons opened the contest leading 6-0, with a jumper from Kwasi Amponsah and four free throws from Daniel Eacho. Bridgewater came back on a 23-6 run through the 11:26 mark, going ahead by 11, 23-12.

Roanoke responded with a surge of its own, pulling within one, 25-24 through the 6:55 mark. Roanoke was led in that run by Andrew Daniels who notched eight points, with three from Amponsah and two by Cameron Smith. The teams traded baskets for the remainder of the half, with Bridgewater entering the locker room ahead 34-33.

In the first seven minutes of the second half, Bridgewater outscored Roanoke 10-2, earning six of those points from Ed Reddick. Roanoke cut the deficit to three, 44-41, after four points from Daniels and two points by Smith. With 5:21 to play, Roanoke trailed by six, 52-46, as Amponsah knocked down three consecutive free throws. The Eagles held the six point advantage up to the final minute of the game.

Daniels led the Maroons with 25 points, followed by Amponsah with 13. Daniel Eacho compiled his second double-double of the season with 12 points and 10 rebounds. Amponsah topped the team in steals with three.

Reddick led the Eagles with 19 points, followed by Aaron Adams and Kenneth Waugh with 10 points each. Ronnie Thomas led the Bridgewater squad with nine rebounds.

The Eagles outshot the Maroons 43 to 31 percent from the field, while the Maroons held the advantage from the free throw line, 68-47 percent. Roanoke also outrebounded Bridgewater 53-41 on the afternoon.

The Maroons return to action on Wednesday, January 9th, as they travel to Randolph to face the undefeated Wildcats. That contest is scheduled for a 7:00 PM tip-off.
