Men's Basketball Drops ODAC Contest to Guilford College on Wednesday
SALEM - The Roanoke College men's basketball team fell in Old Dominion Athletic Conference action to Guilford College, 76-48 on Wednesday. The Maroons now have a record of 8-12, 1-10 in ODAC play while the Quakers are 15-5, 7-4 in the ODAC.

Daniel Eacho led the Maroons in scoring with nine points and he was followed by Julian Ramirez who finished the contest with eight points. Cameron Smith led Roanoke in the rebounding category, pulling down seven boards on the evening.

Roanoke opened up the contest with baskets from Kwasi Amponsah and Jordan Thacker to take an early 4-0 lead. Through the 11:00 mark in the first half, the Quakers went on a 26-7 run take a 19 point lead. The Maroons continued to battle through the end of the first half, as Ramirez netted eight points and Cameron Smith added four in the half. The Maroons entered the locker room with a 47-25 deficit.

The Quakers came back out in the second half and found their stride again as Zeb Richardson scored four points and Matt McCarthy knocked down a trey in the opening four minutes. Amponsah, Eacho, Alexander Weant and Tyler Akers all responded with layups of their own to bring Roanoke within 24, 57-33 with 11:22 to play.

Over the next five minutes, the Maroons were able to find the bottom of the net as Stefan Vulevic and Clay Lacy were able hit deep three-pointers. Roanoke's final basket of the game came from Zach Barrett, who hit a jumper with :44 to play. In the end, Guilford defeated the Maroons 76-48 in the Bast Center.

Four players scored in double figures for the Quakers, as they were led by Josh Pittman who finished with 19 points and six rebounds. Matt McCarthy tallied 16 points, Jake Hopkins had 11 and Will Freeman netted 10. Zeb Richardson led all players in the contest with 10 rebounds.

The Quakers outshot the Maroons 41.9 to 27.1 percent from the field, and 85.7 to 72.7 from the free throw line. The Maroons held the advantage in blocks (5-3) and steals (10-4).

The Maroons return to action on Saturday, February 2nd as they travel to face Bridgewater. That contest is scheduled for a 2:00 PM tip-off.
