Maroons Fall on Senior Night to Washington and Lee in ODAC Action
SALEM - The Roanoke College men's basketball team fell in Old Dominion Athletic Conference action to Washington and Lee, 75-56 on Senior Night. The Maroons now have a record of 9-15, 2-13 in the ODAC, while the Generals now stand at 12-12, 7-8 in ODAC play.

The contest served as senior day and the Maroons recognized five seniors before the contest started. Roanoke's seniors consist of Kwasi Amponsah, Jordan Thacker, Zach Barrett, Jimmy Bradshaw and Connor Toomey. Between the five, they scored 27 of Roanoke's 56 points on the evening.

Daniel Eacho led the Maroons in scoring with 14 points, finishing with five rebounds. Senior Jordan Thacker also scored in double digits, netting 10 points to go along with three rebounds and a team high three assists. Julian Ramirez tied Eacho for the team high five rebounds, also putting up four points and two assists. Kwasi Amponsah's one steal on the night moved him into a tie for fifth in all-time steals at Roanoke with 172, tying Josh Laporte '08.

It was a great start to senior night for Jimmy Bradshaw who scored the Maroon's first five points of the night, getting the Maroons off to a 5-2 lead. Roanoke seniors continued to shine in the opening moments of the game as Zach Barrett and Jordan Thacker knocked down treys, followed by a Kwasi Amponsah layup to give the Maroons a 13-2 lead with 15:43 on the clock. The Generals started a run of their own, pulling back within three, 15-12. Roanoke built its lead back up to 10, 23-13, after Andrew Daniels knocked down a pair of three-pointers. Over the final nine minutes of the half, Washington and Lee rallied to tie the game at 25-25, but Zach Barrett made the final basket of the half, to send Roanoke into the locker room with a three point, 28-25 lead at halftime.

Roanoke held on to its three point lead through the 18:41 minute mark in the half, until Washington and Lee's Andrew Franz hit a layup to take the 31-30 lead. Jordan Thacker hit a deep trey to reclaim the lead for the Maroons, a lead they would hold up until 15:28 in the game. The Generals hovered around a five point lead through most of the second half, with Roanoke pulling within as few as three points, 47-44 after a Daniels free throw. However, the Generals closed the final seven minutes of the game on a 21-8 run, defeating the Maroons 75-56 in ODAC action.

Four Generals scored in double-figures with Andrew Franz leading the squad with 18 points, to go along with eight rebounds. Javon McDonald finished the contest with 16 points, while J.D. Ey and Kevin Gill each put up 10 points. Ey also completed a double double with 12 rebounds.

Washington and Lee outshot Roanoke 45.5 to 36.8 percent from the field, while the Maroons held the advantage from the free throw line, 87.5 to 77.3 percent. Washington and Lee also held the advantage in rebounds 42-28.

The Maroons return to action in the final game of the season on Saturday, February 16th. Roanoke travels to face Eastern Mennonite in a contest that starts at 7:00 PM.
