Eacho and Gwin '14 Named to 2014 USA DIII Men's and Women's Basketball Brazil Tour Teams
Roanoke College senior Daniel Eacho and Paxton Gwin '14 have been named as members of the 2014 USA DIII Men's and Women's Basketball Brazil Tour Teams.  The teams are made up of players who have been recognized as All-American, All-Region or All-Conference in the 2013-14 school year.
 
The USA D-3 Men's & Women's Basketball Teams will begin their Brazil Tour 2014 in Orlando, Florida on July 21st.  The tour runs from July 21-30.  After team orientation and practices in Orlando the team departs for Sao Paulo, Brazil on Tuesday, July 22nd.  The USA D-3 Basketball Teams will play doubleheader games (Men & Women) on July 23, 24 and 25 in the state of Sao Paulo vs. selected teams from the region.  On July 26th the team travels to Rio de Janeiro for a game on July 28th.  The team will depart Brazil on the evening of July 29th and return to Orlando on July 30th.
 
Daniel Eacho, a native of North Chesterfield, VA, earned his first All-ODAC award in 2014, being named to the First Team.  He was a two-time ODAC player of the week, scoring 471 points over the course of the season.  He was also named to the 2014 VaSID All-State Second Team.  Next year, Eacho will enter his senior season with 929 points, just 71 points from joining the 1,000 point club.  Consistently throughout the season, Eacho was the only player in the ODAC to be ranked in the top-five in both points (18.8 – 3rd) and rebounds (9.6 – 2nd) per game in the ODAC.  He also ranked fourth in the conference in free throws made (101). 
 
Paxton Gwin, the Buxton, NC native, had an outstanding senior season.  She was named 2014 ODAC Women's Basketball Player of the Year and d3hoops.com All-South Region First Team.  Gwin is also a two-time All-ODAC selection as well as being named VaSID All-State First Team.  The three-year starter scored 1,349 points, including 476 in her senior season, to rank sixth all-time on the career scoring list at Roanoke.  Gwin, who was named ODAC Player of the Week twice this winter, ranks in the top-10 in nine statistical categories including field goals made (5th – 520), three pointers attempted (7th – 350), and scoring average (9th – 13.0 PPG). 
 
While in Brazil the teams will experience educational, cultural and social aspects of Brazilian life through city, school and sports club visits.  While in Rio the team will be staying on the famous Copacabana Beach and touring the Christ the Redeemer Statue and Sugar Loaf, two of the most recognizable landmarks in the world.
