Maroons Close 2013 With 82-74 Win Over Frostburg State
SALEM – Daniel Eacho scored a career high 28 points in Roanoke's men's basketball victory over Frostburg State University on Monday afternoon, 82-74.  The Maroons pull to .500 on the season with a record of 4-4, while the Bobcats currently have an 0-8 record on the season.

Eacho netted 28 points on the afternoon, going along with 18 rebounds in his fourth consecutive double-double of the season.  He has achieved a double-double in five games this year.  This is the second time that he has raised his career high, as he scored a career mark of 24 in the season opener against Gordon.  Eacho continues to be the only player in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference that is ranked in the top five in rebounds (2nd – 10.9) and points (3rd – 18.6) per game.

Frostburg State opened up the contest with a jumper from Nick Smoot, giving the Bobcats a 2-0 leads in the first minute of the game.  However, the momentum swung quickly as Roanoke went on a 14-0 run that ran the span of six minutes.  During that run, five different Maroons found the bottom of the net.  The Bobcats were resilient over the next four minutes, going on a 16-3 run of their own, that also saw five different players score.  With 10:41 left in the first half, Frostburg State had taken an 18-17 lead.

The first half continued to be a ever-changing shift in momentum as the two teams would go on long scoring stretches.  With 8:03 on the clock, Roanoke now was up by seven 28-21, with five points scored by Eacho in that time period.  The Bobcats came back again, with two minutes to play in the half, Smoot knocked down a pair of free throws to tie the game at 36-36.  Roanoke capped off the half with layups from Marcus Scott, Julian Ramirez and Andrew Daniels to enter the locker room ahead, 42-36.

Eacho scored the first six points for the Maroons in the second half, as Roanoke now led by eight 48-40 with 16:23 to play in the contest.  Stefan Vulevic hit a pair of free throws over the next minute to extend the Maroons' lead to 10.  Roanoke's largest lead came at the 11:03 mark as Andrew Daniels hit a layup to put the Maroons ahead by 15, 60-45.  Over the next four minutes, Frostburg State closed the gap as Nick Smoot scored five points and James Peters knocked down another eight, pulling the Bobcats within two, 64-62 with 6:42 to play.  Andrew Daniels was hitting shots down the home stretch, knocking down jumpers and three pointers to help extend the lead again.  With 1:46 to play, Jabari Kamau hit a layup to cut the deficit to four, 74-70, but the Maroons knocked down eight free throws in the final minute of the game, as Roanoke was victorious 82-74 over the Bobcats.

Eacho led the team in scoring with 28 points, followed by Andrew Daniels with 13 and Cameron Smith with 12.  Smith also led the team in steals with three.  Ethan Humphries finished the game with two points, but led the team in assists with six, followed by Julian Ramirez with five.

The Maroons outshot the Bobcats 45.8 to 38.0 percent from the field, while Frostburg State held the free throw margin, 88.2 to 73.0 percent.  Roanoke outrebounded Frostburg State 51-32, while the Maroons finished with seven more turnovers in the contest (19-12).  47 of the Bobcats' poinst came off the bench, while Roanoke's starters scored 63 of the team's 82 points.
