ENTERING SATURDAY'S GAMES
The women's basketball win on Wednesday puts them in a tie for 10th place in the conference entering the final game of the regular season against Eastern Mennonite on Saturday.  The Royals received 19 votes in the most recent d3hoops.com top-25 poll, making them the second team out of the list.  The Royals have secured the #1 seed in the ODAC Tournament, while the Maroons will be on the road for the opening round game on Tuesday, February 24th.  If the Maroons win in the opening round, they will play on Friday, February 27th at the Salem Civic Center in the ODAC Quarterfinals.

With the loss, Roanoke currently sits in 10th In the ODAC standings, with seeds five through eight hosting an ODAC Tournament Opening Round Contest on Monday, February 23rd.  The Maroons would need a lot of help to host a first round contest on Monday.  Here is the scenario that grants Roanoke a home game on Monday:
  • Bridgewater College Loses to Lynchburg on Saturday
  • Emory & Henry Beats Randolph on Thursday
    • Emory & Henry Loses to #1 Randolph-Macon on Saturday
    • Randolph Loses to Washington & Lee on Saturday.

With this scenario, Seeds 7-11 are up for grabs in the ODAC Tournament.  In the above situation, Washington and Lee would have  a record of 7-9.  Bridgewater and Roanoke would have records of 6-10, and with the head-to-head matchup, Roanoke would get the #8 seed over Bridgewater.  This means Roanoke would host Bridgewater at the Bast Center on Monday at 7:00 PM.

In the Maroons' regular season finale, they will take on Eastern Mennonite, who is looking for a first round bye being tied with Lynchburg for fourth with an ODAC record of 8-7.  The Maroons defeated Eastern Mennonite, 81-80 on December 6th of this season, and will look to repeat the overall result on Saturday.
