DAYTONA BEACH, FL – The Roanoke College men's basketball team fell in non-conference action to Marymount University on Saturday evening, 76-62.  The Maroons now have a record of 5-4, while the Saints are 9-1 on the season.

This is not the first time that the Maroons have faced off against the Saints this season, as the two teams each played one other on their season opener on Saturday, November 15th.  Marymount picked up the victory on that day, defeating the Maroons 86-57 in the Pablo Coto Tip-Off Tournament.

John Fitchett led the Maroons in scoring, tallying 21 points on 5-13 shooting from the field.  He also finished with four rebounds and two assists, which tied three other players on the team in the category.  Andrew Daniels finished with 14 points, the second highest mark on the team.  He knocked down two three pointers on the night, which puts him at 89 made three pointers for his career, ranking 12th all time at Roanoke College. Tonight he passed Matt Crizer '11, who hit 88 career three pointers during his time at Roanoke.

Daniel Eacho also finished in double-figures, tallying 11 points on the night.  Eacho sits 27th all-time in scoring as a Maroon with 1,067 points, just 12 points behind Brad Dunleavy '01 in 26th place.  He also pulled down five rebounds, which ties Kenny Belton '81 with 608 career boards, ranking 15th all-time at Roanoke.

Roanoke built a 33-32 lead at the end of the first half, with John Fitchett tallying 10 points on 3-6 shooting, with two three-pointers.  Roanoke quickly built a six points lead in the first minute of the second half, as Eacho led off with a layup, while Fitchett hit another three-pointer at 19:25.  Roanoke continued to hodl their six point lead until Danny Ferry hit back to back three pointers for Marymount to tie the game at 4-2-42 with 14:47 to play.  Jesse Konadu scored three points while Danny Ferry scored another four to take the Marymount lead up by seven with 10:28 to play.  Fitchett hit his fourth three pointer to cut the deficit to four points, 51-47.

The Saints built their lead back to eight points as JC Hoellich hit a layup at 4:02, but Michael Anderson broke the advantage wide open with a three pointer just 40 seconds later, putting the Saints up by 11, with 3:21 on the clock. Julian Ramirez and Eacho combined for four points to cut the deficit by eight, while Fitchett made all three free throws after a foul behind the arc.   However, the Marymount lead was too great for Roanoke in the closing minutes, as the Maroons fell 76-62 on Saturday night.

The Saints were led by Danny Ferry, who scored 21 points off the bench.  He shot 6-14 from the field, hitting 5-10 from behind the arc.  He also ranked second on the squad with eight rebounds, all defensive.  Jesse Konadu put together a double-double of 14 points and 12 rebounds.  Michael Anderson scored 13 points, while JC Hoellich finished with 11 points.

The Maroons return to action on January 2-3, when they host the Cregger Classic in the Bast Center. Roanoke will face SUNY New Paltz at 4:00 PM on Janury 2nd, then compete in the consolation or championship game on January 3rd at 12:00 PM or 2:00 PM respectively.
