The Lead: Joey Miller scored a game-high 22 points as Roanoke topped Kenyon 84-76 Saturday afternoon in the first day of the Morris Cregger New Year's Classic. The Maroons have now won nine games in a row.

How it Happened:
  • Miller was joined in double-figures by John Caldwell who came off the bench to score 13 points, while John Fitchett and Carter Wright had 12 and 11 points, respectively.
  • The Maroons made 24-of-54 shots from the floor and knocked down 28-40 attempts from the charity stripe.
  • A back and forth first-half saw the Maroons hold a slim 47-43 edge at the break.
  • Roanoke was able to push its lead to nine points early in the second half when Carter Wright knocked down a three-pointer to make it 58-49 with just over 14 minutes to go in the game.
  • Keynon was able to chip away and cut the RC lead to two points at 67-65 before Roanoke scored five straight to bump its lead back to seven.
  • The Lords were able to pull within four but that would be as close as they would get as Roanoke went 12-for-16 in the final four minutes from the foul line to ice the game.

Roanoke will play McDaniel who topped Montclair State earlier in the day in the championship game at 2:00 p.m.
