The Lead: The Roanoke College Men's Basketball team won its 10th game in a row by downing McDaniel 90-84 in the championship game of the 2016 Morris Cregger New Year's Classic in Salem.

How it Happened
  • Tournament Most Outstanding Player Carter Wright led five Maroons in double-figures with 21 points. Cameron Smith and Dustin Hassell each had 13 points while John Caldwell and all-tournament selection Joey Miller each finished with 12.
  • The game featured 13 ties and 20 lead changes as the Maroons won their 10th game in a row.
  • The final tie came after Wright tied the game at 72-72 with just under seven minutes to go in the game.
  • From there, RC scored nine of the next 11 points, taking a 81-74 advantage on a Smith three-pointer.
  • McDaniel cut the RC lead to 83-80 with 2:47 to play, but Smith knocked down three-pointer to make it 86-60 with two-minutes to play.
  • After a Duane Echols jumper pulled the Green Terror within 86-84, but that would be as close as they would get as Miller iced the game with four straight free-throws in the final 30 seconds.
