The Lead: No. 20 Roanoke survived a hot-shooting first-half by Randolph-Macon as the Maroons improved its record 13-2 with a 91-85 ODAC victory over the Yellow Jackets on Saturday.

How it Happened
  • Randolph-Macon shot a blistering 71.4% in the first-half, making 20-of-28 field goals, including 5-of-9 from beyond the arc.
  • R-MC was able to build a 10 point lead following a Jon Nowell bucket that made it 29-19 with just over 10 minutes to go in the opening half.
  • RC chipped away and cut its deficit to 39-37 when Seth Bradley knocked down a three-pointer with under five minutes to go in the half.
  • The Yellow Jackets pushed their lead back to five points at 42-37 before Dustin Hassell sparked a run with a jumper and capped the 15-6 run with a three-pointer in final seconds to send the teams to the locker room with RC up 52-48.
  • The contest remained close with the Maroons taking a double-digit lead when a John Fitchett three-pointer made it 79-69 with seven minutes to go in the game.
  • R-MC made a rally of its own, outscoring RC 13-7 over the next six minutes, cutting the Maroon lead to 86-82 with 1:20 to play. R-MC would cut it to 87-84 with 41 seconds to play, but Joey Miller converted four key free-throws down the stretch to seal the win for Roanoke.
  • Roanoke was led by John Caldwell who scored 19 points in just 19 minutes of play. Caldwell made all seven of his shots from the field, including all three from the three-point line and both attempts from the foul line.
  • Carter Wright added 16 points for RC, while Hassell had 12 and Miller finished with 10 point for Roanoke.
  • R-MC's Lamont Moore led all scorers with a game-high 24 points. Daniel Noe had 11, while Nowell finished with 10 points and a game-high 11 rebounds.
  • It marks the first win for RC over R-MC since the 2007 ODAC Tournament and snaps a 13 game winning streak by the Yellow Jackets over the Maroons.
