The Lead: Joey Miller scored a career-high 22 points as the Roanoke College Men's Basketball team ran its winning streak to eight games with an 88-73 road win at Frostburg State on Sunday.

How it Happened:
  • Miller was joined in double-figures by John Caldwell who had 13 points to go along with a game-high nine rebounds and John Fitchett who 11 points and six boards of his own.
  • Frostburg State got 19 points off the bench from Tyler Michael. Shawn Henson and Nick Smoot had 16 and 13 points, respectively for FSU.
  • RC knocked down 14 three-pointers on the afternoon and assisted on 19 of its 29 made field goals in the win. FSU was 30-of-67 (44.8%) from the floor, including 3-of-16 from beyond the three-point arc.
  • With the score 31-25 in favor of the Maroons midway through the first-half, a three-pointer by Miller sparked what proved to a be a 19-7 run over the course of six minutes with a Caldwell bucket extending the Roanoke lead to 50-32 with three minutes to go in the half.
  • Frostburg rallied, scoring the final eight points of the half to cut its deficit to 50-40 at halftime.
  • FSU continued to chip away early in the second-half with a Smoot three-pointer cutting the RC lead to 56-53 with 15 minutes to go in the game. Roanoke would score eight of the next 10 points, pushing its lead back to nine points on a Dustin Hassell three with just under 11 minutes to go.
  • The Bobcats were able to cut the lead to seven points with eight minutes to go but RC put the game out of reach with a 12-4 run that was capped by a Cameron Smith basket that put the Maroons up 81-66 with five minutes to play.
Up Next: Roanoke will break for the holidays and return to action on Jan. 2 when it hosts the Cregger Classic. RC will face Kenyon at 2:00 p.m., while McDaniel and Montclair State face off in the opener at Noon.
