    The National Basketball Coaches Association (NABC) announced their 10th annual Team Academic Excellence Awards on Tuesday afternoon. The Roanoke College men's basketball team was honored by the organization for the 2021-22 season.
  • Six Maroons Honored for Academic Success

    The Virginia Sports Information Directors (VaSID) announced their 2022 Academic All State teams on Thursday morning. Six Maroons were honored for not only their athletic accomplishments, but for their academic success. Four of the six carry a 4.00 Grade Point Average (GPA), while the others sport a 3.974 and 3.966 gpa.
  • Draper Repeats as 1st Team All State

    The Virginia Sports Information Directors (VaSID) announced their 2022 Men's Basketball All State teams on Wednesday afternoon. For the second year in a row, Roanoke College guard/forward Kasey Draper was named 1st team All State for the College Division.

    The College Sports Information Directors Association (CoSIDA) announced their 2022 Academic All American teams for basketball on Tuesday afternoon. Roanoke College guard/forward Kasey Draper was named Academic All-American 2nd Team.
  • Roanoke Eliminated by Top Ranked Yellow Jackets

    After knocking off the #4 seeded Generals on Thursday, the Roanoke men’s basketball team faced top ranked Randolph-Macon in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) semifinals on Saturday afternoon. The nation’s #1 Yellow Jackets raced out to a 7-0 lead on their way to a 40-19 halftime lead. Roanoke would win the second half but it wasn’t enough as Randolph-Macon knocked the Maroons out of the tournament for the third straight year with a 75-58 win.
  • Maroons Advance in ODAC Tournament

    Roanoke kicked off the 2022 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Basketball Tournament with a game against Washington and Lee in the quarterfinal round. The Maroons broke open a close game late in the first half and took a 47-39 lead into the half. Roanoke would hold Washington and Lee scoreless for the first five-minutes of the second half on their way to an 82-69 win over the Generals.
  • Roanoke Places Two on All Conference Teams

    The Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) announced the 2022 Men's Basketball all conference teams on Wednesday afternoon. Kasey Draper and Efosa U-Edosomwan were named All ODAC by the league’s coaches. Each are repeat members after being named all-conference in 2021.
  • Roanoke Pulls Away Late

    The Roanoke College men’s basketball team traveled to Bridgewater to close out the regular season on Saturday afternoon. The Eagles would lead by as many as eight in the first half, but the Maroons closed with a 17-9 run to go into the break tied, 33-33. Roanoke trailed 41-40 with 15-minutes left to play but would use a 15-3 surge over the next five-minutes of play to take control. Bridgewater would get to within four, but the Maroons put the game away down the stretch for the 67-58 win.
  • Draper Named Academic All-District

    The College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) announced their Academic All District team for men's basketball on Thursday afternoon. Roanoke College guard/forward Kasey Draper was named Academic All District by the organization. The junior will now move to the nationwide voting for the Academic All American team.
  • Maroons Run Out Of Time

    For the final time this season, the Roanoke men’s basketball team took the court in front of their home fans when they welcomed Guilford to campus. The Quakers had beaten Roanoke, 58-53, back in early January and the Maroons looked to even the season series. Guilford built a six-point lead but the Maroons cut it to 33-32 at the break. Guilford would use a 20-3 run to start the second half to put Roanoke in a big hole. On four consecutive possessions, the Maroons hit 3-pointers to cut the deficit to 59-53, but couldn’t complete the comeback as Guilford held on for the 65-57 win.
  • Maroons Fall In Rematch

    Roanoke played their arch rivals from Hampden-Sydney on Saturday afternoon. The Maroons had defeated the Tigers back on January 22nd, 70-64, and went looking for the season sweep in Farmville. Hampden-Sydney built an 11-point first half advantage and took a 31-24 lead into the locker room. Roanoke would respond in the second half and took a 6-point edge into the final five-minutes of play. However, the Tigers closed the game on a 16-4 run to take the rematch, 70-64.
  • Maroon Madness Crowd Treated To Big Win

    Roanoke College played host to Shenandoah in the opening game of the annual “Maroon Madness” in the Cregger Center on Wednesday night. The Maroons looked to sweep the season series against the Hornets when they took the court in front of a packed house. Leading by two with 10-minutes left in the opening frame, Roanoke closed out half on a 25-13 run to take the lead into the break. The second half was all Roanoke as the Maroons cruised to the 97-57, Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) win.
  • Roanoke Falls To #1 Yellow Jackets

    The Roanoke College men’s basketball team traveled to Ashland to face #1 ranked Randolph-Macon on Saturday afternoon. It was the second meeting of the season with the Yellow Jackets winning in Salem, 62-50, two months ago. The home team would break open a close game in the final two-minutes of the first half when they closed the frame on a 7-2 run to take a 42-36 edge into the break. Roanoke cut a 10-point deficit in half over the final three minutes of action, but the Jackets would hold on for the, 72-67, win.

    Roanoke took a six-game Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) win streak to Harrisonburg for a game with Eastern Mennonite on Wednesday night. The Maroons took an early six-point lead, but that was the largest lead for with team during a first 20-minutes that would see Roanoke up at the break, 37-35. The Royals broke open a tie game to take a seven-point lead before Roanoke rallied to cut it to one with just seconds to play. Trailing 72-70, the Maroons went to the line in the final second but missed the first and had to try to rebound a missed second free throw, however EMU secured the carom and the win.

    The Roanoke College men’s basketball team made the trip east to face Virginia Wesleyan on Monday afternoon. The winner would claim the third spot in the current Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) standings. The Maroons would hold a slight lead at the break, 29-27, before asserting themselves on the defensive end during the second 20-minutes. The Marlins managed just 19, second half points, as Roanoke cruised to the 69-46 conference win.

    After picking up an overtime, road, win on Wednesday the Roanoke men’s basketball team welcomed Randolph College to the Cregger Center. Roanoke legend Frankie Allen was on hand and honored at halftime as the big crowd was treated to a hot start by the Maroons. RC scored the first six points of the afternoon and raced out to a double-digit lead less than 10-minutes into the game. A 16-point halftime lead would grow to as big as 32 as Roanoke won their fifth straight Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) game, 79-51.
  • Roanoke Pulls Away For Overtime Win

    The Maroons made the trip north to face Shenandoah University on Wednesday night. The matchup with the Hornets would be the first of two games with Shenandoah over the next two weeks. Roanoke found themselves down 12 with just over eight minutes left in the first half. The Maroons would close the gap to 38-30 at the break. It took just over four minutes in the second half for the Maroons to come all the way back and take the lead. However, as the clock struck 00:00, Shenandoah had hit a game tying jump shot to send the game into overtime, 68-68. Roanoke took the lead and never looked back on their way to an 80-71, overtime, win.

    The Roanoke College men’s basketball team brought a two-game win streak into Saturday’s matchup with their rivals from Hampden-Sydney. The first half would be played close as Hampden-Sydney led early before Roanoke came back and enjoyed as much as a six-point advantage, but a late Tiger rally would tie the game at the break, 32-32. Roanoke built an 11-point lead in the final five minutes and hit enough free throws to close out the Tigers, 70-64.

    After picking up a home win over Ferrum on Tuesday night, the Roanoke men’s basketball team took to the road with a trip to Lynchburg to face the Hornets in Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) action. The Maroons opened the game with an 11-0 run, not allowing Lynchburg to score for the game’s first eight minutes. RC would take their five-point halftime lead and build it to as many as 20 during the second half as they finished off the Hornets for the 71-54, ODAC, win.

    Roanoke was finally able to play host to Ferrum on Tuesday night. In a game that was rescheduled twice due to various reasons, the Maroons looked to halt a two-game Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) losing streak against a Panther squad that come in searching for their first ODAC win of the season. Ferrum shot 42% from the 3-point line in a first half that would see the Maroons lead, 33-31, at the break. Roanoke would use a 37-29 edge on the glass and hot second half shooting to pull away for the, 84-60, ODAC victory.

    Roanoke college looked to get back on track when they welcomed Washington and Lee to the Cregger Center for a Saturday afternoon, Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) matchup. The Generals would hit nine of the 16 fist half 3-pointers to help build a 45-36 edge at the break. The visitors would hold the Maroons to 24% (7-29) shooting in the second half as Washington and Lee pulled away for the 77-57, ODAC, win.

  • Maroons Fall in First Game Back

    After having their first two games of the new year postponed, the Roanoke men’s basketball team was back on the court when they traveled to North Carolina to face Guilford on Wednesday night. Both teams would struggle to score but when the home team closed the final five-minutes with a 16-8 run, Roanoke would find themselves down, 34-22, at the break. A 9-0 run to start the second frame would get Roanoke back into the game. After a scoring drought allowed the Quakers to rebuild their advantage, a late push would make it a two-possession game However, Guilford sealed it at the free throw line to picked up the 58-53 win.

    The Old Dominion Athletic Conference announced their Player of the Week awards on Monday afternoon. Due to the holiday break, the weekly award included all games played from December 20th until January 2nd. Kasey Draper was named Player of the Week after a three game stretch that would see the junior average 26 points per game and picking up Most Valuable Player honors at the 2021 Cregger Invitational.

    For the final time in 2021, the Roanoke men’s basketball team was in action as they took on Buena Vista University in the Championship game of the 2021 Cregger Invitational. Roanoke got off to a slow start as they trailed the Beavers, 14-4, in the early going. The Maroons used a 44-13 run to close the first half on their way to a 21-point, Tournament Championship clinching, victory.

    After a short break to enjoy the holiday season, the Roanoke men’s basketball team was back in action when they hosted Covenant on the opening day of the 2021 Cregger Invitational. The Maroons struggled to score during a first half that would see the Scots take a 26-23 edge into the break. Just about mid-way through the second half, Roanoke used a 12-1 run to seize control, building an 11-point lead. The Scots would cut the lead to five but Roanoke hit enough free throws to put the game away, 59-51.
