BILLY MCDONALD WINS LYNCHBURG INVITATIONAL

LYNCHBURG, VA-Roanoke College freshman Billy McDonald scored his second victory of the 2006-07 golf season, winning the Lynchburg College Golf Tournament on Monday afternoon. McDonald finished the two-day event with a 156 total. Mark Ashby was fourth overall, eight strokes off of McDonald's winning pace. Brandon Woulfe was the third Maroon to finish in the top-10, placing seventh.

McDonald shot a 75 on the first day of the tournament, giving himself a six-stroke edge heading into the second day. The freshman shot an 81 the second day and ended up finishing two strokes ahead of the second place competitor. Ashby was just eight strokes behind McDonald. He shot an 81 on the first day, an 83 on the second day. Woulfe carded an 85 on day-one and then rebounded for an 82 on the second day and finished in seventh place overall.
