Rob Landis named new Head Coach for Men's Golf

Salem, Va. --- Director of Athletics Scott Allison has appointed Rob Landis as the new head golf coach for the Maroons. Landis replaces Steve Anderson, who has been the Maroons' head golf coach for the past three seasons.

“I'm excited to have a local that's active in the golf community in the Roanoke Valley in Rob,” Allison said. “He has a strong passion for golf and will relate to the players well with his knowledge of the sport.”

Landis, a York, Pa. native, has been in Roanoke for 20 years. An avid golfer, Landis has been involved in the Roanoke Valley Golf Association for seven years and serves as treasurer. A member of the Hanging Rock Hall of Fame, he served as a volunteer coach for Salem High School from 2005-07, in which all three years the Spartans finished as the Virginia Class AA Runner-Up.

“I'm very excited and look forward to the challenge to work with these young men and improve the golf program here at Roanoke College,” said Landis.

He is currently a general contractor for Envisions Contracting, where he does estimating and project management. His wife, Deborah, is an administrative assistant for the Dean of Students at Roanoke.

The Maroons finished sixth at the ODAC Championships this spring. Two golfers made second-team All-ODAC as Ashby and Robertson earned the honors. For Ashby, it's his second conference honor as he was named honorable mention All-ODAC a year ago.
