Robertson, Skaff Earn All-ODAC Honors
Senior Ryan Robertson (Staunton, VA, Riverheads)and Freshman Adam Skaff (Charleston, WV, Charleston Catholic) were named to the 2009 Golf All-ODAC Team announced this afternoon. Robertson made second-team while Skaff took home honorable mention honors. In addition, Patrick Guzi (Goodview, VA, Staunton River)was named to the Sportsmanship Team.
Robertson, a two-time All-ODAC selection, shot a combined score of 245 (+29 overall) to place 16th at the ODAC Championships last weekend. He maintained an 82 over the final two rounds after shooting an 81 on the first day. For the season, he shot a 79.05 scoring average with his best round of 73 at the Jekyll Island Invitational.
Skaff, from Charleston, WV, finished second overall at the ODAC Championships with a combined score of 235 (+19) to earn Al-ODAC Tournament honors with Brandon Ketron (Abingdon, VA, Abingdon), who tied for fourth. For the year, he led the team with a 78.35 scoring average. His lowest round of the season was a 74 at both the Tom Kinder and Jekyll Island Invitational Tournaments.
Guzi, a Staunton River product, had a season average of 81.06, playing 17 rounds this spring. His lowest round of the season came late in the season at the Jekyll Island and Shipbuilders Invitational Tournaments, both in the final round.
The golf team was ranked among the top-60 teams in the country late in the season and finished third at the ODAC Championships, with two golfers finished in the top-five to earn all-tournament honors. As a team, the Maroons averaged 317.42 per round and placed in the top-three in four tournaments this year, including a second-place finish at the Virginia State Championships last fall. The men finished third in the final two tournaments of the season.
