MAROON GOLFERS PLACE SIXTH AT TED KELLER INVIT.

GLEN ALLEN, VA--The Roanoke College golf team finished in sixth place at the 2003 Ted Keller Invitational which was held at the Hunting Hawk Golf Club on Monday and Tuesday in Glen Allen, VA. After a first round score of 307, which put them in third place, the Maroons dropped three spots after a 320 in the Second Round. The Maroons' two-day total of 627 was 13 strokes off the championship pace of Bridgewater College.

Roanoke's Bryan Cotton was just four strokes off the individual winning pace, finishing the invitational with a two-day total of 148. Two golfers, one from Wesley (DE) and one from Lynchburg, were the overall winners with score of 144. Cotton was in third place after a 73 on the par-71 course on Monday. On Tuesday he shot a 75 and finished with the 148.

Dusty Throckmorton was one of four golfers to tie for sixth place with a 152. Throckmorton fired a 75 on the first day and a 77 in Tuesday second round. Alan May tied for 24th place with a 159 (78-81) and Geoff Lindsay's 169 was good enough for a tie for 48th place. Rounding out Roanoke's scoring was Gerard Kasza who was 52nd (88-87-175) overall.

The Maroons are back in action on Monday, September 22nd and Tuesday, September 23rd at the Buck Leslie Invitational at the Lexington Country Club in Lexington, VA. The event will be hosted by Washington & Lee University.
