Golf Takes Sixth in Hampden-Sydney Invitational
FARMVILLE - Roanoke finished sixth in its second match of the season at the Hampden-Sydney Invitational on Tuesday. The tournament was held at the Manor Resort, which is a par-72 course. The Maroons posted a two-day score of 625, five strokes behind Randolph Macon in fifth. Hampden-Sydney won the match with a team score of 596.

In the two-round tournament, only three sub-par rounds were turned in during that span. Tournament winner Trevor Banks(Virginia Intermont), posted the low round of 69 on day one. He was the only player to crack the 60's during the tournament. Banks led by two strokes after day one, and held that lead to win the tournament by the same margin.

The Maroons sat in third after day one, shooting 305 as a team, but had a little trouble the second day firing a score of 320. Behind Hampden-Sydney, Ferrum and Averett finished second and third, respectively.

Brandon Ketron (Abingdon, VA, Abingdon) had a two-day score of 148 (+4) for the second consecutive tournament. His performance was good enough to earn fourth place. Will Reitan finished the tournament with a score of 157, which landed him in a tie for 21st place.

The men will travel to Ashland to compete in the Ted Keller Invitational on Sept. 30. It will be held at the Hunting Hawk Golf Club hosted by Randolph-Macon .
