Roanoke Golf Finishes Ninth at Ted Keller Memorial
ASHLAND - Roanoke finished ninth in its third match of the season at the Ted Keller Memorial over the weekend. The tournament was held at the Hunting Hawk Golf Club, which is a par-72 course. The Maroons posted a two-day score of 634, one stroke behind Shenandoah in eighth. Hampden-Sydney won the match with a team score of 601.

In the two-round tournament, only five sub-par rounds were turned in during that span. Tournament winner Bobby Suigals (Franklin and Marshall), finished the weekend shooting 141 (-3). The low score of the tournament came in the first round when Kalle Kangas (Averett) fired off a round of 69 (-3). Kangas finished tied for seventh.

The Maroons were in ninth place after each of the two days, shooting nearly consistent rounds of 316 and 318. Behind Hampden-Sydney, Franklin and Marshall and Averett finished second and third, respectively.

Rob Pepi (Huntington, NY, Walt Whitman) had a two-day score of 153 (+9), which was good enough to tie for 14th. Brandon Ketron (Abingdon, VA, Abingdon) completed the tournament just two strokes behind Pepi, shooting 155 to tie for 23rd.

The men will travel to Suffolk to compete in the Virginia State Intercollegiate on Oct. 8. It will be held at the Nansemond River Golf Club.
