Roanoke Golf Takes Fourth of 18 in Tom Kinder Memorial

HARRISONBURG – The Roanoke College golf team placed fourth out of 18 teams in the Tom Kinder Memorial at Lakeview Golf Course on Saturday and Sunday. The Maroons, who shot a two-day total of 610, moved up seven places from their finish in the 2012 event.

The Tom Kinder Memorial had 18 teams, half of which were from the Old Dominion Athletic Conference. Hampden Sydney walked away with the victory, boasting a team two-day total of 589. Bridgewater's Matthew Dye finished with a score of 143 (-1).

Roanoke's Alex Taylor finished in third place with a two-day total of 146 (+2), shooting 73-73. Also breaking the top-10 was Andrew Butts with a mark of 149 (+5). Jack Prater tallied a two round score of 154 (+10). Kolton Cooper and William Brown both finished tied for 54th, shooting a two-day total of 164.

The Maroons return to action on September 23-24 as they travel to Farmville, VA to play in the Hampden-Sydney Invitational. The tournament will be played at The Manor Golf Club.
