Roanoke Golf Takes Sixth in Virginia State Intercollegiate

WINCHESTER – The Roanoke College golf team finished sixth in the rain shortened Virginia State Intercollegiate on Monday, October 14th.

The competition was supposed to be a two-day, 36 hole event, but due to the weather on Sunday, the tournament was shortened to one round.  Hampden-Sydney won the event with a team score of 287 (-1).  The Tigers' Brian Burt finished the competition with 68 (-4) single round score.

Roanoke had two golfers finish in the top-20 for the day.  Alex Taylor tied for ninth place, shooting 73 (+1).  Andrew Butts tied for 18th place, shooting a four-over 76.  William Brown followed close, tying for 26th, tallying a single-round score of 78.  Jack Prater (+9) and Karlyn East (+10) finished just one stroke off each other with an 81 and 82, respectively.

The Maroons return to action on October 19-21 as they compete in the Ted Keller Invitational.  The tournament will be held in Ashland, VA at the Hanover Country Club.
