Roanoke Golf Takes First in 2015 Camp Lejeune Invitational Scarlet Division
CAMP LEJEUNE, NC – The Roanoke College golf team took first place in the 2015 Camp Lejeune Invitational Scarlet Division over the weekend.  The Maroons played in the same division in 2014, and took a 9th place finish just a year ago.

Roanoke finished the tournament with an overall score of 893 (+45), five strokes ahead of the second place team, Piedmont College.  Roanoke faced off against two ODAC teams in the 14 team, day three field, Lynchburg (3rd - +55) and Virginia Wesleyan (5th - +58).  After just the first day, Roanoke shot an even-par 280, leading the next team, Virginia Wesleyan, by 11 strokes.  The Maroons had a tough outing on the second day, but reigned the match back in with a five-over 285 on day three. Surry Community College's Chandler White won the division with a three day total of 209 (-3).

Roanoke's Will Brown finished in third place with a three round score of 215 (+3).  Brown shot under par in both the first (67, -3) and third (69, -1) rounds to secure the third place finish.  Also capturing a top-10 spot was Kolton Cooper.  Cooper shot an even par on the first day, had a tough second day with a 78, but rounded the last day out with a one-over 71 for a total of 219, tying for sixth.

A pair of Maroons also played their way into the top-30 at the event.  Alex Taylor shot a three day total of 230 (+18) to tie for 23rd.  Taylor's best round came in the first day, when he shot a one-over 71.  Ryan Davis tied for 26th place after shooting 231 (+19) during the Invitational.  He also posted his best score during the first round, shooting a two-over 72.  Jack Prater played to a 47th place finish, shooting a total of 241 (+29).  He played his first and third rounds shooting 78 (+8) each time.

The Maroons return to action on April 2nd as they host the Roanoke College Invitational at Ballyhack Golf Club.
