The Lead: The Roanoke College Golf team wrapped up its 2016 fall season with an 11th place finish at the Virginia State Golf Association Intercollegiate Championship at Williamsburg Country Club.
How it Happened
- Andrew Butts was the top finisher for the Maroons carding a 78-78—156 to finish in a tie for 26th place on the individual leaderboard.
- Nick Peters shot an 81 on Tuesday to go along with an 83 on Monday to place in a tie for 45th with a 164.
- The Maroons shot 78 both days on the par 72 course at Williamsburg Country Club to finish in 11th place.
- Christopher Newport finished the tournament with a 289-290-579 to win the tournament by 16 strokes over Ferrum and were 28 strokes better than Virginia Wesleyan which finished third.
