The Lead: Andrew Butts finished fifth overall and Roanoke placed fourth as a team as the Maroons wrapped up the Marlin Invitational on Tuesday.

How it Happened

  • Butts finished with a 74-79—153 to conclude the tournament in a fifth-place tie with Virginia Wesleyan's Seth Johnson. The pair finished 10 strokes behind individual medalist Carter Morgan of VWC.
  • As a team, Roanoke improved by nine strokes from its day one total to finish with a 335-326—661. Host Virginia Wesleyan won the team title shooting 23 over par during the two days.
  • Each of Roanoke's four other players improved on their day one totals on Tuesday. Nick Peters shot an 84-80—160 to finish 20th overall, while Nicklaus Norris carded a 92-81—173 to finish 23rd.
