The Lead: The Roanoke Golf team improved 18 strokes from its day one total as the Maroons wrapped up the Glenn Heath Shipbuilders Memorial Tournament on Tuesday.
How it Happened
- The Maroons shot a 314 on Tuesday, 18 strokes better than its Monday total, helping RC move up two spots and finish 10th overall.
- RC was led by Andrew Butts who finished in a tie for 12th after shooting an 80-74—154 during the two day tournament at the Williamsburg Club.
- Nick Peters placed 30th overall with an 80-78—158, while Daniel Johnson carded an 85-80—165 for the Maroons.
- Christopher Newport took the team title shooing a 294-293—587, 25 strokes better than second-place Randolph-Macon.
- David Rabil of CNU was the only player under par for the tournament, finishing a 73-70—143 to win individual medalist honors.
