The Lead: Roanoke College sent a team to compete in the Tiger Spring Tournament hosted by Hampden-Sydney over the weekend. The Maroons would compete as a 'B' team in the 11-team field. The first day, Roanoke would post a 323 and find themselves towards the bottom of the leaderboard. After a 12-shot improvement on Sunday, Roanoke would finish seventh after recording a team total of 311.

How it Happened:

  • Day one: Freshman Sean Furlong shot a 4-over par 76 to pace Roanoke. Sophomore Michael Donnelly finished with a 7-over 79 while Will Abdi carded an 83.  
  • Day two: Furlong improved a shot to post a 3-over par 75 for a 151 total that would put the freshman in a tie for 7th in the 67-golfer field. Donnelly carded a 1-over par 73 finishing in a tie for 14th with a 153. Junior Justin Grenier shot an 8-over par 80 with Abdi finishing with an 82. Playing in his first ever collegiate event, freshman Tyler Tingen came home with an 87.

Up Next: Roanoke will leave for North Carolina on Thursday when they travel to Camp Lejeune to compete in the 2022 Camp Lejeune Intercollegiate.
